Since launching the Come Wander brand to consumers last spring, we’ve not only seen incredible visitor engagement across our digital channels, but have also been thrilled with the level of brand support from tourism stakeholders.
We’ve established a brand message that is resonating with consumers and inspiring visitation, and it’s important we back this up by ensuring we offer incredible experiences to visitors in destination. Doing so will create ambassadors for the region, help further leverage #ComeWander messaging, and inspire even more visitation.
This spring, we’re once again hitting the road to host Stakeholder Sessions across Ontario’s Highlands, and will be focusing on the importance of adopting a destination experience mindset, providing tools to implement this, and exploring next steps for how we can support visitors as they Come Wander Ontario’s Highlands.

This year’s Stakeholder Sessions will not only be a chance to further explore this topic, but will also provide the opportunity to network with OHTO staff and peers. Evening sessions will be hosted as a cocktail-style event with appetizers and a cash bar.

Your assistance in this process has contributed to the success of this year's Survey Results. We look forward to the 2019 Employer One Survey, where we hope to continue to increase the employer engagement in order to provide service providers, local businesses, youth, and educators with valuable insights into local skill and human resource requirements.

The Summer Experience Program provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, Indigenous organizations and First Nation communities, to create career-related summer employment opportunities for students.
SEP positions must focus on activities supporting key sectors within the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Ministry of the Status of Women and Ministry of Seniors Affairs, including citizenship, voluntarism, seniors, women, tourism, culture, sport and recreation. Summer student positions should offer training for future careers or work experience in skills transferable to the general workforce.

To assist all employers in all sectors with attracting talent one idea which always emerges from discussions with industry is the value of a career fair to facilitate direct and personal communications between employers and job seekers.
The County of Renfrew is hosting a multi-sector Career Fair, Thursday, March 27th, at the Pembroke Best Western Inn and Conference Centre. Based on two similar events the County has hosted in the past, each for a single specific company establishing an operation in the County, the Career Fair will be operated in a trade show format. Each exhibiting organization will be provided with a 6 foot table for display of company literature, videos and job opportunity listings and space behind the table for staff and graphic displays.
Renfrew County will promote the event via print and radio advertisements and social media across the County, nearby Quebec and into Lanark and Hastings Counties, Ottawa and beyond. Promotion will also be directed at Algonquin College students at the Pembroke and Ottawa Campuses and to other Ottawa area post-secondary schools. Local residents will be encouraged to share the information about the Career Fair with family, students and friends who reside outside the County.
This event will be free to all invited employers to exhibit and to all attendees seeking information about career and job opportunities, full-time, part-time and seasonal. Employers provide their corporate information and career opportunity listings in hardcopy and/or they may direct attendees to company websites for more information and to submit applications. Attendees will be encouraged to bring resumes and will be told to be prepared to complete applications on site and to be ready for a preliminary on the spot interview.
Organizations being invited to participate are: manufacturers, scientific research and development laboratories, high value-added service providers, wood and natural resource processors, agri-business, tourism and hospitality, defence, aerospace, security and monitoring device developers, hospitals, medical and health service providers and municipal government.
