Tips for Sharing Events
We are thrilled to hear about more and more events being dreamed up and developed across Ontario’s Highlands! Visitor events can be a lot of fun, but are also a lot of work. On top of all the planning, coordinating, and set-up tasks, there is the challenge of marketing the event to drum up attendance. The Guardian Includes Haliburton on Fall Colour Round Up
We already know how incredible the fall colours are in Ontario's Highlands, but thanks to The Guardian's article 10 Unmissable Autumn Experiences in Ontario, British travellers may soon be booking their trip to Haliburton, which was listed in the article.
 
Two Local Blogs Highlight Neat Coffee Shop
Not one, but two local lifestyle blogs did a feature on Neat Coffee Shop last month. Apartment 613 put together a great piece on why Neat should be on the radar of all music lovers in Ottawa, if it isn't already, and Narcity Ottawa wrote about why its readers should pay the Burnstown cafe a visit.
 
CBC Shines Light on New Lanark County Experiences
Two new Lanark County experiences were the focus of recent CBC Ottawa articles. Owners of the newly opened Gaslight Cafe & Sign Gallery spoke to CBC about their unique space in Almonte, while Perth operator, The Axe Shop, explained what their new 'rage cage' is all about.
 
Round Up Lists Featuring Ontario's Highlands
It was a busy month with quite a few other operators or locations featured in various round-up list articles by local media. StyleDemocracy.ca chose Grail Springs Retreat as one of the wellness retreats near Toronto to visit while Narcity Toronto urged readers to check out Egan Chutes Provincial Park. Narcity Ottawa's list of late August activities saw both The Great Water War event in Renfrew and the heritage canoe paddle in Smiths Falls make the list.

The folks behind KiMagic.com wrote about their getaway to a cottage on Long Lake in Lanark County, and what they did in Perth and the surrounding area to keep busy, including Stewart Park Festival.

Calling all Hastings County Trailblazers

Are you a pioneer in your industry, who thrives on thinking outside of the box? Is community a deep-rooted value that lends to the success of your organization? And is being authentic, yet anything but ordinary, what you strive to achieve? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, you most certainly may be this year’s Hastings Trailblazer recipient.

Hastings County is now accepting nominations for its new award, the Hastings Trailblazer Award, until Thursday, August 28th at 4:00pm. This award recognizes the trailblazers of our region and their achievements as strong contributors to our rural economy, be it tourism, agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, retail, or services. It is open to all businesses, organizations, and individuals who are located and/or operate within Hastings County’s 14 member municipalities (excluding the Cities of Belleville & Quinte West).

Ontario Pork PIGstock Workshop Held Sept 9
You're invited to PIGstock on September 9 in Belleville, presented by Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance in partnership with Loyalist College. PIGstock is a one-day workshop for members of the food service industry who want to learn how to successfully incorporate Ontario pork into their businesses.The workshop will explore heritage and commercial breeds, tackle issues around purchasing power, access, and sourcing in Ontario, and will conclude with a field trip at a modern dry-aging meat plant. Click here to register or to learn more.

Snapshot: May 2019
Destination Canada has released its Monthly Tourism Snapshot for May 2019. May was a record-breaking month for international overnight arrivals - up 8% from May 2018 - which boosted the year-to-date arrivals up 5% from the previous year. You can view the full May 2019 snapshot here.
